Photographs of homes and businesses in and around Partridge, Kansas, taken in 1945 by Art Smiley and assembled into a collage. Individual photographs are approximately 1 inch by 1.5 inches, and are numbered. An accompanying numbered list identifies some of the buildings.

Typed note affixed to the frame reads:
"The frame around this picture is made from a cdear tree grown in Partridge, it was cut down in 1960, taken to a saw mill near Nickerson, Ks. By W. Lee Van Zandt. The frame was made by his great-grandsons David Hobkirk with assistance from Darren Hobkirk. Gh."

Handwritten on back, at top:
"A Silent History of Partridge as seen by and respected by me. To many, it brings back memories, to others it is only history in the past.
